Hello, this is Van Fields responding to your questions.

1.   When did you first want to get in to the

  music industry?

First of all, I started singing as a young boy in church with my mother.   Then I went on to sing in the high school Glee Club where I met up with some extraordinary singers and we became fast friends and formed a singing group.  We performed at the high school's talent shows and some community events and that's when I started dreaming of a career in the music business!

   2.   Who was your biggest influence?

My biggest influence in the music business was Smokey Robinson & the Miracles.

3.
What goes through your mind, heart and/or soul when your

      singing?

I try to tell a story when I sing .  Pleasing the audience and relating that story is what's really on my mind.

   4.   While on stage, what goes thru your mind when looking at the

       audience?

When I am on stage I like to gauge the audience in terms of how old the crowd is, whether they are predominantly male or female, and how long they've been waiting to see me!

5.
How do you relax between concerts?

I usually watch TV ( a game, or a movie ) or I'll curl up with a good book.

6.
   Type of hobbies?

I am an artist, so in my spare time I draw, paint, or sit around and write a new song.

   7. Favorite color?

         My favorite color is red.

   8.   Favorite food?

        Seafood, with plenty of vegetables!

9.   Type of music you enjoy listening to?

          Smooth jazz.

QUESTION TO VAN FROM Charlene & Jo:   This is a two-parter.  When you travel do you have "don't leave home without it item/items" you pack such as incense, candles, etc. and when you pack, what item do you forget to pack the most and need to run all over the city to find ?

ANSWER:  I usually take a good book with me on the road, some kind of news-oriented magazine newspaper, or I'll take my portable DVD player and watch some old school movies and music DVDS.  And, as far as something that I always leave behind, that would be my cell phone battery charger, I must have bought 10 of them in 8 years!
